About Us

The Shepherd’s Table Covenant Church, affectionately called “The Table” is a Christian body of baptized believers. We believe whole-heartedly in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross and through this work, salvation is available for all humankind. “The Table” fully embraces the Pentecostal experience and the operation of spiritual gifts as a part of the life of every believer. We are a socially conscience church, and believe that the call of humankind is to not only serve the Lord in spirit and truth but we further believe that we are called, commissioned and committed to serve the whole humanity, showing the radically inclusive love of God through Jesus Christ. In this we recognize that our distinction in the Kingdom is to minister to the whole person; body, soul and spirit.

We are partnered in service to the Kingdom of God with our founder and pastor, Elder Elliott Sommerville, who at the inception of this ministry laid the ground work for over 25 ministries committed to making room for everyone at the Table of the Lord. We believe that everyone has unique gifts that can be offered to the various ministries. Whether it’s singing God’s praises with the praise team or serving with PROJECT REHOBATH or ministering to those who are less fortunate, there are opportunities to share your gifts! Our Sunday worship encounters are times of rejoicing in the wondrous works of God. Whether you are a visitor looking for a place to call home or if you are seeking a place to make a fresh start, There IS a place at “The Table” for you!

Our Beliefs

At The Shepherd’s Table:

We Believe the Bible to be the inspired written word of God.

We Believe that there is only One true and living God, eternally manifested in the persons of :”God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit: yet not three eternals but ONE.

We Believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture/catching away of the Church, the bride of Christ at His glorious return.

We Believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

We Believe in being baptized (COMPLETELY IMMERSED) in water as the first work of obedience following repentance.

We believe in the sanctifying and regenerative power of the Holy Spirit through which the believer is able the live a godly, spirit filled life through Christ.

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary makes salvation available to all people.

We believe in healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer, according to James 5:14

We believe in the priesthood of every believer, every believer has direct access to God through Jesus Christ and is called to live with spiritual authority, power and grace. (1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 1:16)

We believe in the “who so ever will” intentionally inclusive love of God through Jesus Christ, As a result, we are called to love, affirm and welcome all people to the table of the Lord. John 3:16

We believe in the support of Christ’s body, the Church through the practice of tithing,

We believe in the spiritual principles of sowing and reaping. Malachi 3:6-12

Our Values

Application of Scripture
We believe that the application of the Word of God to our individual lives will move us into the knowledge of knowing God’s will and way for our lives (Psalm 119:59-60 & James 1:22).

Non-Traditional Approaches
We believe that we must de-emphasize the traditions of man and focus more on what God desires for us to do (Mark 7:1-13 & Colossians 2:8).

Tithing Church
We believe that the tithing concept is the best systematic approach to giving in the local church. However, the emphasis is to be placed on it being a legitimate process rather than a legalistic principle (Malachi 3:10 & I Corinthians 16:2).

Intercessory Prayer
We believe that we all have the God-given responsibility to lift one another up in prayer (James 5:13-18 & Acts 12:5).

Organized Ministries
We believe if there is not the proper construction of ministries, we will witness the prompt destruction of ministries. Therefore, every ministry of the Shepherd’s Table Covent Church must be thoughtfully planned and organized before it is to be implemented (Proverbs 24:3-4; 30:24-28).

Community Involvement
We believe that we must not limit our ministries to the household of faith. We must get involved in special community projects that help to strengthen the community as a whole (Galatians 6:10).

Handling Conflict
We believe we should handle all church conflict in the spirit of love. We believe that whatever happens in the house can be dealt with among the household members (Colossians 3:12-14 & I Corinthians 6:1-7).

Fellowshipping with One Another
We believe that we should fellowship with one another since we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We believe that fellowshipping with one another increases the bond between one another (Acts 2:42).

Equipping the Saints
We believe God has gifted pastors and teachers for the purpose of perfecting and equipping the saints for service (Ephesians 4:12).

Lay Ministry
We believe that we are not saved by our service but we are saved to serve (Matthew 20:28 & Romans 12:6).

Leading the Lost
We believe that our main focus as a church should not be on substance but souls. We believe every believer should have a burden for souls to be saved (Matthew 28:19-20 & Psalm 126:6).

Operating Biblically
We believe that everything we do at The Shepherd's Table Covenant Church should have the support of Scripture as its foundation (Matthew 7:24-29).

Worship and Praise
We believe that the family of God should come together regularly to celebrate the goodness of God. We also believe that worship and praise is to be done corporately and individually (Psalm 100)

Small Groups
We believe that small group participation is just as important as gathering together corporately. We believe in coming together in small groups to pray, to learn, to encourage, and to share (Acts 4:23-32).

Social Justice
We believe that we have a responsibility to help meet the needs of those who are in serious need as much as possible (Matthew 25:32-46; Amos 5:15).

Investing in Youth
We believe we must invest in our children in order for them to develop into what God desires for them to become in life (Proverbs 22:6).

People Focused
We believe that our primary focus should be on people and not on programs. We believe that we should focus on building the church before focusing on the church building (John 13:34-35 & John 15:12)

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
